Lossburg, 2/2/2018
Under the motto “The future of powder injection moulding”, Arburg will hold its second international PIM conference on 5 and 6 June 2018. At this event, invited PIM specialists from throughout the world meet at the Arburg headquarters in Lossburg in order to examine the potential and trends of the PIM process and to exchange experiences in the form of high-profile specialist presentations.
On the occasion of the anniversary “50 Years of Arburg PIM Expertise”, the first international PIM conference took place in Lossburg in 2013. At the time, participants praised the international character of the unique event, which for the first time provided the opportunity for 250 experts from the PIM sector to meet at a central location and to conduct intercontinental discussions. “We would now like to build on this success and hold the second major event of this kind for the international PIM world in June 2018,” says Gerhard Böhm, Managing Director Sales at Arburg.
High-profile international speakers
On both days of the event, various specialist presentations will be held to present the potential, technical options and future prospects of the PIM process and to exchange experiences. High-profile experts from globally active companies and institutions in the industry from America, Asia and Europe were invited to give the specialist presentations. These include, for example, Prof. Dr. Randall M. German from San Diego State University in the USA, who speaks on the topic of “The future of powder injection moulding”: Growth in materials versus applications”, Prof. Peng Yu from the South University of Science and Technology of China (Shenzhen, VCR) who reports on the “Current status of and outlook for the Asian PIM sector” and Prof. Dr. Frank Petzoldt from the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Applied Materials Research IFAM in Germany, who highlights “Current developments in MIM technology”. In addition, speakers from internationally renowned PIM part producers report on practical examples and material manufacturers present the latest feedstock developments. The PIM specialists from Arburg present interesting innovations, for example on advances in mould technology.
Mix of theory and practice
At the Arburg Customer Center, injection moulding machines produce various PIM components in the breaks between the presentations, so that the participants can experience the potential of the process live. The second international Arburg PIM conference will thus provide a comprehensive overview of the perspectives and innovations in the area of powder processing. In addition, the experts from around the world will have ample opportunity to network and exchange experiences and will also be given an insight into the production and assembly of Arburg machines during a company tour.
