Schweinfurt, October 18, 2017. The Schaeffler Group and S&M E. Scazikis – L. Marangos are celebrating the anniversary of their partnership. Since its foundation in 1957, Greek distribution partner S&M has been responsible for the professional sale of the products of Schaeffler throughout Greece. What started out as a branch office in Thessaloniki has developed into a stock corporation with 200 employees and 11 branch offices. Technical expertise and reliable processing towards end customers have always been a priority. This and the loyalty towards Schaeffler as a supplier helped establish a partnership that is beneficial to both sides, and which also offers the best prerequisites for future developments for S&M to be able to operate as a certified distribution partner for the Industrial division on the Greek market.

1957 – 2017

The foundation for the cooperation between S&M and Schaeffler was laid in June 1957 during Lakis Marangos’ visit to Schweinfurt. Back then, S&M started out with exclusive import and distribution rights from FAG (today Schaeffler) for Northern Greece. In 1989, FAG transferred overall responsibility for the Greek market to S&M, which extended its business activities to the south of the country. In the following years, S&M expanded its business further, for example by acquiring three new branch offices in Athens, by opening a new logistics center, and by extending its range of products by adding automotive replacement parts. Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket provides support for the distribution of the latter. Today, S&M is generating approximately 30 million euros in sales.

The requirements that Schaeffler has specified for an “Authorized Distributor Industrial” are very high. Only distribution partners who fulfill these high requirements can position themselves as certified distributors on the market.
