The success story of Bruckmann Steuerungstechnik GmbH, BSG for short, began 25 years ago and continues unabated to this day. At this year’s K in Düsseldorf (booth 9A57) the complete range of BSG automation solutions will be presented to the visitors.
The history of BSG began with the foundation of BKG Bruckmann & Kreyenborg GmbH in Münster, which needed a company to provide the automation technology for its pelletizing systems. Bruckmann Steuerungstechnik GmbH – known on the market under the name BSG – was founded for this purpose and took over this task. At that time there were a total of six shareholders, four of whom were active in BSG. From the beginning pure automation of pelletizing lines, soon larger projects were realized. “Our specialisation and know-how in the plastics market gives the customer clear added value for his company and the certainty of being able to trust a specialist,” says Rainer Merissen, Managing Director of BSG, convinced. In the year 2000 there were already 25 employees. These were divided into the areas of IT, PLC/HMI programming, CAE design and manufacturing. The BSG team now has around 80 employees.
Not only the team, but also the projects have grown. “In recent years we have seen a very clear increase in the networking of production facilities,” says Sales Manager Heiner Bommers. Industry 4.0 is making great strides. The digitization of production is becoming increasingly important. Not only for large companies, but also for medium-sized companies. BSG is also prepared for this. With the One-Exchange software package, a company can cover a large part of an MES (Manufacturing Execution System). This system is already in use at some plastics manufacturers and closes the gap between ERP system and production. One of the last major projects was the automation of a complete site of a well-known plastics manufacturer in the Netherlands. The entire BSG product portfolio was used here. From data transfer from an ERP system in One-Exchange, plant visualization in the control center and plant operation on site, to the control coordination of AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles), the project required the entire know-how of BSG.
In addition to the implementation of new plants or complex greenfield projects, existing plants are also updated to the latest state of automation technology. So-called retrofit projects make older plants fit for the digital future. At stand 9A57, visitors to the trade fair can gain a comprehensive insight into the BSG product portfolio.
