A total of 67 new apprentices and students from the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) began their apprenticeship at Arburg on 3 September 2018 – yet another record in the machine manufacturer’s successful apprenticeship history. More than 1,800 apprentices have completed apprenticeships at Arburg in just under 70 years. Since the beginning of 2018, the training department has also received three quality certificates.
“To succeed together, we need your commitment, your flexibility and your willingness to learn for life!” said Renate Keith, Managing Partner with responsibility for Human Resources Management, in her motivational speech welcoming the 67 new apprentices and DHBW students. On behalf of the Partners, the Management Team and the Arburg employees, she wished them a positive start to their careers. She also encouraged the young people to be curious: “Don’t be afraid to ask questions if there’s something you don’t understand. After all, you’ve come here to learn!”“
Top quality training
Renate Keith also highlighted the quality if the training on offer: “You can look forward to award-winning training.” She went on to explain that at the beginning of 2018, Arburg became the first training company in Baden-Württemberg to obtain triple quality certification and that the 2,000 square metre Training Centre offers the best possible facilities.
Eagerly anticipated traineeships
There was no mistaking the trainees’ excitement at the prospect of their time at Arburg. Having already completed several internships as an industrial mechanic, Nikolai Haier, 19, was sure he wanted to start training at Arburg: “I was convinced by the familial atmosphere and the exciting activities offered by the training programme!”. 20-year-old Florian Willer, who is training as an industrial clerk, is particularly looking forward to working in Accounts. Thanks to recommendations from his family and friends, he became aware of Arburg during his time at the Commercial Vocational College in Freudenstadt.
Sandro Bossert, 24, who is starting a course of study under the DHBW scheme in the field of industrial engineering, has already successfully completed his training as an electronics technician for automation technology at Arburg: “After completing my traineeship, I worked for one and a half years within the company and then completed my training as a technician on a full-time course. There was one thing I still lacked: the business component. That’s why I’m particularly looking forward to the practical phase in the Project Department.”
19-year-old Paul Finkbeiner already enjoyed programming during his time at the Technical High School in Freudenstadt and is now starting a cooperative state university degree course in computer science. His brother, who also works in the company, warmly recommended Arburg as a training provider.
An exciting induction week
In order to ensure a smooth start to theory-based professional training, the newcomers can look forward to an exciting introductory week with a varied program. The aim is for them to get to know each other and also to become familiar with the company and its products. For this purpose, Head of Training Michael Vieth and his team of instructors organised team events and a barbecue. In addition to safety instruction, there follows a detailed tour of the plant, enabling the trainees to get to know the Arburg product portfolio and introducing them to the various departments.
